Sakinah ("we", "us", "our") is a Muslim matrimonial platform built to help Muslims find marriage the right way — with sincerity, compatibility, and privacy at its core.

2. Information we collect

Waitlist registration

When you join our waitlist at mysakinah.co/waitlist, we collect:

• Email address — to notify you when Sakinah launches and to send relevant updates.
• Age — to understand our user base and ensure the platform is used by adults (18+).
• Location — to understand where our community is based and prioritise launch regions.

Usage data

We may collect basic, anonymised usage data (such as page visits) to understand how people interact with our website. This does not identify you personally.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Notify you when Sakinah launches or opens access to new users.
• Send you important updates about the platform — such as changes to this policy or launch news.
• Send occasional marketing emails about Sakinah, our mission, and platform developments. These will only be sent if you have joined our waitlist and have not opted out.
• Understand the demographics and locations of our early community to shape how we build the platform.

We will never sell your data, share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes, or use it in any way that conflicts with the trust you have placed in us.

4. Marketing emails

By joining the waitlist, you agree that we may send you marketing-related emails about Sakinah. These may include platform updates, launch announcements, and occasional communications about our mission.

Every marketing email will include a clear unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time — and we will respect that immediately.

We do not send spam. We will not bombard your inbox. Our goal is to keep you genuinely informed, not to pester you.

5. How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider with encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your data is strictly limited to the Sakinah team.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
• Ask us to delete your data (right to erasure).
• Withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority if you believe your rights have been infringed.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@mysakinah.co and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We may use essential cookies to ensure the website functions correctly. We do not currently use tracking or advertising cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and notify waitlist members.

8. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Sakinah:

• Supabase — database and backend infrastructure.
• Vercel — website hosting and deployment.
• PostHog — privacy-friendly product analytics. We use PostHog in cookieless mode, meaning no cookies or persistent identifiers are stored in your browser. Analytics data is processed on PostHog's EU servers and is used solely to understand how people interact with our website. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog unless you have joined the waitlist, in which case your email may be associated with your activity to help us improve the platform experience.

Each of these providers has their own privacy policies and security standards. We only share data with them to the extent necessary to operate the platform.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify waitlist members by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
