Community Guidelines
Last updated: June 2026
Sakinah exists to help Muslims find a spouse the right way — with sincerity, respect, and clear intentions. These guidelines exist to protect that space. They apply to everyone on the platform, without exception.
1. Come with sincere intentions
Sakinah is a matrimonial platform. It is for Muslims who are genuinely seeking a spouse for the sake of Allah. It is not for casual dating, entertainment, or curiosity.
If your intentions change, please pause or delete your account rather than continuing to engage with other members who are seeking something serious.
2. Be honest
Your profile must represent you accurately. Do not misrepresent your age, appearance, marital status, religiosity, location, or any other detail. Members trust what they read — honesty is the foundation of any successful introduction.
- Do not claim to be unmarried if you are currently married.
- Do not exaggerate your religious practice or lifestyle.
- Do not create a profile on behalf of someone else without their full knowledge and consent.
3. Treat every member with respect
Every person on this platform is someone's family member. Treat them accordingly. Rude, dismissive, or disrespectful communication — even after a rejection — is not acceptable.
- Declining an introduction is a right. Do not pressure, guilt, or repeatedly message someone who has not responded or has declined.
- Keep introduction messages respectful, clear in intention, and appropriate in tone.
- Do not make comments about someone's physical appearance that cross the line into objectification.
4. Respect Islamic boundaries
Sakinah is designed to support an Islamic approach to finding a spouse. We ask all members to conduct themselves in a way that is consistent with Islamic etiquette — in their profile content, their introduction messages, and their interactions after matching.
- Keep communication purposeful and marriage-focused.
- Do not send inappropriate, explicit, or sexual messages or content.
- Involve a wali or family member in the process if that aligns with your approach. Wali contact fields are available on your profile for this purpose.
We recognise that Muslims have different approaches to the marriage process. We do not impose one way, but we do expect that all interactions remain appropriate and respectful.
5. Protect other members' privacy
Information shared on Sakinah — including profile details, introduction messages, and contact information revealed after a match — is shared in confidence. You must not:
- Share another member's profile, photos, or contact details with anyone outside the platform.
- Screenshot or distribute another member's information without their explicit consent.
- Use information from Sakinah to contact someone through other channels without their permission.
6. No harassment or abuse
Harassment of any kind will result in immediate account removal. This includes:
- Sending repeated unwanted messages after being declined or ignored.
- Threatening, intimidating, or abusive language.
- Targeting someone based on their sect, ethnicity, nationality, or any other characteristic.
- Creating a new account after being banned to continue contacting someone.
7. No scams or financial solicitation
Do not use Sakinah to solicit money, gifts, financial assistance, or business opportunities from other members. This includes romantic scams, fraudulent sob stories, or any attempt to exploit the vulnerability of someone genuinely seeking marriage.
If someone asks you for money or financial help on this platform, please report it immediately.
8. Do your own due diligence
While Sakinah reviews all profiles before they go live, we cannot verify every claim a member makes. We strongly encourage you to:
- Involve a trusted family member or wali in the process early.
- Ask questions and take time to understand a person's character before proceeding.
- Meet in appropriate settings, with a mahram if required by your practice.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, it may be.
9. How to report
If you encounter a profile or message that violates these guidelines, please report it by emailing support@mysakinah.co with as much detail as possible. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
You can also block any member from their profile page. Blocked members cannot see your profile or contact you.
10. Consequences of violations
Violations of these guidelines may result in:
- A warning and required profile update.
- Temporary suspension of your account.
- Permanent removal from the platform.
- In serious cases (fraud, harassment, abuse), reporting to relevant authorities.
We reserve the right to take action at our discretion to protect the safety and integrity of the community.
A note from us
We built Sakinah because we believe Muslims deserve a better way to find a spouse — one rooted in intention, trust, and dignity. Every guideline here exists to protect that. We ask every member to be the kind of person they would want to find on this platform. May Allah put barakah in your search.
